River Oaks
Established in the 1920’s by brothers William Hogg and Michael Hogg, River Oaks spans more than 1,100 acres and is located within the 610 loop between Downtown and Uptown. River Oaks Blvd is the flagship street with Lamar High School at one end and River Oaks Country Club at the other. The Buffalo Bayou borders the neighborhood on the North and is home to Rienzi, the MFAH house museum for European decorative arts, which is situated on four acres of wooded gardens. The neighborhood is adorned with parks/esplanades with beautiful oaks and azaleas. The area is also zoned to River Oaks Elementary, an award winning school, and lies within close proximity to premier private schools as well. River Oaks has a private police force to protect its residents and has been ranked by Forbes and Wall Street Journal as one of the “Best Places to Live”.
